Adaeze Nwosu

Born in 1984

Nwosu casts soft things hard. Duvets, pillows, a mattress, a dust sheet, a silk scarf: each one is moulded from the real object and remade in fibreglass under a flawless automotive lacquer, so it keeps every crease and sag of something soft while being rigid, cold and impossible to sit on. She works with a car body shop in Croydon on the finishes and treats colour the way a sprayer does, from a fan deck of trade paints, which is why the black in one work never quite matches the black in the next.
